Juliana Sutanto is an assistant professor (tenure track) for management information systems at the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics of ETH Zurich.

With a full scholarship from the Ministry of Education in Singapore, Prof. Sutanto pursued her undergraduate degree in computing at the National University of Singapore. During her undergraduate study, she received dean’s graduate award. In 2003, she obtained a Bachelor of Computing degree (Honours) from School of Computing at the National University of Singapore. Following which, she was offered to pursue a direct Ph.D. program in information systems while working as an instructor/teaching assistant in School of Computing at the National University of Singapore. In 2008, she obtained her Ph.D. degree with a thesis on task coordination in global virtual teams. In the same year, she joins the faculty of ETH Zurich.

Prof. Sutanto’s research at ETH Zurich focuses on addressing the managerial challenges in realizing the benefits and opportunities that innovative information systems, such as mobile recommendation application and computer-based simulated environment, present. Her research work has been published in leading information systems journals (e.g., Journal of Management Information Systems and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management). Besides being a reviewer for several leading information systems journals and conferences, she is a guest editor of Management Information Systems Quarterly Executive and an associate editor of International Conference on Information Systems.
